• I am heading to the cottage this long weekend with one husband, two sons, two teenage friends, one dog, food to feed them all for 5 days, and a thousand square feet of hardwood flooring. All without a trailer. We're taking two cars, and have managed to pack it all in with the help of roof - racks and so on. The reason I do not have a trailer is because a trailer could not be had for love or money. Well for money, anyway. There wasn't much love when the following conversation took place between me and the company I prefer to call YOU-TOW: B***H at YOU-TOW: Hello, YOU-TOW ME: Hi, I'd like to rent a trailer for the wee ---- B at YT: What size? ME: What size? Oh, um, four by eight, I guess, but I want to know ----- B at YT: No four by eight's ME: Oh. Okay, then something else, but I need to know if I can rent it for several days. B at YT: No. ME: No? Just no? B at YT: No. It's not allowed. ME: Not allowed? You mean it's illegal? B at YT: No. It's not allowed. You can't rent for more than 8 hours. ME: 8 hours? But what if you're moving to another city, and it takes you more than 8 hours to get there? B at YT: Are you moving? ME: No, I'm transporting flooring to my cottage near Parry Sound, but what difference does that make? If I'm willing to pay 5 days rental, whatever that may be? B at YT: You can't, it's not allowed. You have to rent by the hour. ME: That's ridiculous! They're trailers, not hookers! Okay, so I'll rent one for 8 hours, and pay the drop off charge in Parry Sound.   B at YT: Can't. There are no trailers available. ME: What? B at YT: They're all booked. It's end of month. ME: You have got to be kidding me. Why didn't you tell me this at the start? Why did we just have this whole discussion about how long I can rent a trailer WHEN THERE ARE NO TRAILERS AVAILABLE???? B at YT: I have to go. I'm very busy. (Click) ME: HOW CAN YOU BE BUSY? YOU HAVE NO TRAILERS TO RENT! HELLO? HELLO? Have a good long one. Back on Thursday.
